
Morocco Has the Best Infrastructure in North Africa
Indeed, in its recent report 'Global Competitiveness 2015', the World Economic Forum (WEF) ranked 144 countries worldwide based on the quality of their infrastructure.
The aspects studied for this ranking cover road, highway, railway, port, and airport infrastructure, as well as energy and telecommunications infrastructure.
In terms of the quality of these infrastructure categories, the WEF designated Morocco as the best country in North Africa, 3rd in Africa, and 6th in the Arab world.
Thus, the kingdom, ranked 55th globally, comes in 1st in North Africa, far ahead of Tunisia (79th), Egypt (100th), Algeria (106th), Libya (113th), and Mauritania (123th).
At the African level, Morocco ranks 3rd behind Mauritius (42nd) and Seychelles (53rd). The kingdom outperforms South Africa (60th), Côte d'Ivoire (93rd), and Nigeria (134th).
In the Arab world, Morocco ranks 6th behind the United Arab Emirates (3rd globally), Qatar (24th), Saudi Arabia (30th), Bahrain (31st), and Oman (33rd).
According to the WEF, Morocco's infrastructure is of higher quality than that of several major emerging countries such as Indonesia (56th), Mexico (65th), Brazil (76th), India (87th), and Argentina (89th).
