FLAGSHIP PROJECTS OF AGENDA 2063

The flagship projects of Agenda 2063 refer to key programs and initiatives identified as essential to accelerate Africa's economic growth and development, as well as to promote our shared identity by celebrating our history and vibrant culture. The flagship projects encompass, among others, infrastructure, education, science, technology, arts and culture, as well as initiatives aimed at ensuring peace on the continent.

1. Integrated High-Speed Train Network

The project aims to connect all African capitals and commercial hubs through a continental high-speed train network, facilitating the movement of goods, services, and people. Increased rail connectivity also aims to reduce transport costs and decongest current and future systems.

2. Formulation of an African Commodities Strategy

The development of a continental commodities strategy is considered essential to enable African countries to add value, achieve higher returns from their commodities, integrate into global value chains, and promote vertical and horizontal diversification anchored in value addition and local content development.

3. Establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)

Accelerate intra-African trade and strengthen Africa's trading position in the global market. The AfCFTA aims to significantly boost intra-African trade and use it more effectively as a driver of growth and sustainable development.

4. The African Passport and Free Movement of People

Remove restrictions on Africans' ability to travel, work, and live within their own continent. The initiative seeks to transform African laws, which remain largely restrictive for the movement of people despite political commitments to remove borders.

5. Silencing the Guns by 2020

To achieve the goals of Agenda 2063, Africa must work towards ending all wars, civil conflicts, gender-based violence, violent conflicts, and preventing genocide.

6. Implementation of the Grand Inga Dam Project

The development of the Inga Dam is expected to generate 43,200 MW of electricity, supporting regional energy pools and their combined services to ensure access to clean and affordable electricity for all Africans.

7. Creation of a Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM)

The SAATM envisages the full liberalization of intra-African air transport services in terms of market access, traffic rights for scheduled and cargo air services, thereby improving air service connectivity and the efficiency of air carriers.

8. Establishment of an African Economic Forum

The annual African Economic Forum is a multi-stakeholder meeting bringing together African political leaders, the private sector, universities, and civil society to reflect on how to accelerate Africa's economic transformation.

9. Establishment of African Financial Institutions

This project aims to establish robust financial institutions to foster Africa's economic and social development.

10. The Pan-African E-Network

It aims to implement policies and strategies that will lead to transformative e-applications and services in Africa, particularly in digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.

11. African Space Strategy for Outer Space

Africa's access to space technology products is essential for its development in various fields such as agriculture, disaster management, and climate forecasting.

12. A Virtual and Online African University

This project aims to use ICT to increase access to higher education and lifelong learning in Africa.

13. Cybersecurity

Africa must ensure that digital technologies are used safely and securely to protect personal data and institutions.

14. Great African Museum

The Great African Museum project aims to raise awareness of the continent's rich cultural and artistic heritage.
